A smaller sample of limonite-metamorphosed rock heavily intergrown with grains of vibrant blue lirokonite. Lirokonite also forms vivid blue crystals within cavities and bluish-green crystals on spheroidal aggregates of goethite. The crystals on goethite are in reality significantly greener in color than they appear in the photograph and contain thin zones of kernowite (confirmed by WDS analysis). Both lirokonite and kernowite are very rare copper arsenates, with lirokonite containing aluminum and kernowite containing iron, and they can transition into each other. For both minerals, Wheal Gorland is the type locality. Kernowite was approved as a new mineral in 2020 and to date is only known from one location in the world.
