Unique Japanese twin natural citrine crystals from Zambian quartz veins. Museum specimen of twinned citrine crystals according to the Japanese law. This uniquely large citrine twin intergrown with a 19 cm long columnar crystal. The matrix for large crystals consists of 2 – 4 centimeter thin, lighter citrines.
The twin growth of quartz crystals according to the Japanese law is a twinning according to the crystallographic plane (11-22). Typically, flat crystals form an angle of almost 90 degrees with each other. The so-called Japanese twin quartz crystals occur rarely in nature, especially in such giant sizes over 10 centimeters. Even more rarely do they occur in colored quartz varieties like this natural citrine.
